Kacey Musgraves is paying tribute to Dolly Parton.

During the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, the country star gave a performance of Parton's hit "I Will Always Love You". The segment started with footage of Parton introducing the 1974 song. Musgraves stood on stage at the microphone with her eyes closed for most of the performance.

Parton passed away in August after a brief battle with cancer.
