This Year's CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award Goes To.....

If you grew up on '90s and 2000s country, this one just feels right.

Brooks & Dunn will receive the 2026 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 60th Annual CMA Awards.

And honestly… is anyone surprised?

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have given country music decades of songs that still make you turn the radio up immediately. "Neon Moon." "Boot Scootin' Boogie." "My Maria." "Red Dirt Road." "Believe." I could keep going.

The Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the CMA's biggest honors, recognizing an iconic artist, or in this case, duo, whose career has made a lasting impact on country music and its fans. Past recipients include Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Vince Gill.

For Brooks & Dunn, it feels especially fitting. Their music didn't just belong to one era of country. Those songs are still being played, covered, rediscovered, and screamed at concerts by people who grew up with them and fans who weren't even around when some of them originally came out.

That's what a lifetime achievement looks like to me.

And somewhere right now, someone heard the opening notes of "Neon Moon" and immediately got a little dramatic.

As they should.

Congratulations, Brooks & Dunn. This is LONG overdue.
